Assignment: This is a temporary contract assignment 3 month increment.

Position Overview
We are seeking a temporary Human Resource/ Safety Occupational Assistant to support workplace safety initiatives for a large regional employer. This position will assist with safety inspections, industrial hygiene activities, employee safety programs, and data reporting.
The ideal candidate will have experience in occupational health and safety, workplace injury prevention, risk management, or a related field and be comfortable working both in an office setting and in the field.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform workplace safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and support compliance initiatives.
- Conduct and document preliminary industrial hygiene assessments.
- Participate in safety meetings and assist with ongoing safety programs.
- Perform field observations involving employees and contractors.
- Support workplace injury and illness prevention efforts.
- Assist with safety incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Prepare reports, summaries, and other safety-related documentation.
- Collect, organize, and maintain safety data and records.
- Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets, databases, charts, dashboards, and tracking tools.
- Assist with safety training activities and employee awareness programs.
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and professionally.
- Support other safety and occupational health projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, environmental health and safety (EHS), risk management, or a closely related field.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices and injury/illness prevention programs.
- Experience conducting inspections, audits, field observations, or safety evaluations.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including spreadsheets, formulas, charts, and data tracking.
- Ability to compile information and prepare reports.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting safety and accident prevention programs.
- Experience delivering or assisting with safety training.
- Familiarity with incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of Cal/OSHA standards and workplace safety regulations.
Additional Requirements
- Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
- Ability to work both in office and field environments.
- Immediate availability is strongly preferred.
