Industrial Painter

This position should be Subject Matter Experts (SME) with a focus on progressive development of technical expertise as related to the painting process of the manufacture of a wide range of heavy military marine equipment and commercial products for painter.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•     Uphold and exemplify PAR Values 

•     Demonstrate proper use of precision measurement tools and apply principles of Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances (GD&T)

•     Read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, or reports to determine materials requirements or assembly instructions

•     Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare metal, for finish coats

•     Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, or other finishes to equipment and other structures, using brushes, spray guns, or rollers

•     Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting

•     Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, burning, or using water

•     Wash and treat surfaces with oil, turpentine, rust remover, or other preparations, and sand rough spots to ensure that finishes will adhere properly

•     Mix and match colors of paint, stain, or varnish with oil or thinning and drying additives to obtain desired colors and consistencies

•     Use special finishing techniques such as sponging, ragging, layering, or faux finishing

•     Cut stencils and brush or spray lettering or decorations on surfaces

•     Assemble paint spraying equipment

•     Operate compressor and HVLP equipment

•     Monitor and control proper disposal of paint related waste

•     Maintain/clean all equipment associated with painting, including pressure pots, paint guns, paint hoses, paint booths, etc and maintain certification as a Rigger

•     Prepare materials for painting operations by mixing coatings in proper quantities and viscosities; unpacks, cleans, moves, and jigs product as necessary. 

•     Apply specified coating to products. Utilize paint specification and appropriate measuring tools to perform work accurately and assure quality. 

•     Follow instructions and pre-established guidelines for manufacturing methods and technique to perform the functions of the job.

•     Demonstrate proper techniques with industrial airless and/or conventional spray painting

•     Cross trains and maintains certification across all operations within a work area

•     Meet expectations in regards to time, budget, quality and materials needed to perform a work activity

•     Follows all safety procedures, instructions, and guidelines

•     Perform other duties as assigned

 

Essential Qualifications

 

•     US Citizen or Green Card Holder

•     Drug Free

•     Have a High School Diploma or GED

•     Minimum 2 years of related painting experience
